The world changes rapidly. When Kristian was little, it was swarming with fishing boats in Hadsel. Now the fishermen work on big trawlers. Before there were no immigrants in Melbu. But now the municipality has erected a large centre for asylum seekers.

Kristian despises politicians. They are the ones making it so that he is one of the only ones who still dare to gamble on having his own fishing boat. They are the ones who are considering opening up for oil drilling in the fishing docks and that have allowed so many immigrants come there.
